Lost Tower: cannot access this map - activation failed (after ctrl-clicking multiple maps)

I've reached another lost tower and brought a few rare maps to test how many tablet slots it would open. I ctrl-clicked two or three maps from my inventory which puts them in the tower and updates the three tablet slows accordingly..

BUG: ctrl-clicking a second map will insert the second map, but the first one is NOT returned to my inventory. First map is gone and the tower is bricked with the error message in the title (cannot access this map, activation failed).

I've logged out and back in immediately, didn't restore maps or tower.

Edit: opening a regular map slot revealed my lost rare maps. Removing them restored the tower functionality as well. I assume the tower shows one slot but actually all four are still available in code.
