Wisps are awkward to play around and they slow you down too much.

They also tend to pick the weirdest routes, often already cleared from mobs, to get to their destination. Which not only wastes your time, but also leads to very unrewarding results.

Instead of floating around and make you follow them, they should follow you. Just stick above your head and affect your kills until "depleted". Kinda similar to sentinels.

Whisps are not intuitive you have too wait in front of the mobs without killing it till it get posseded by the the spirit.
Even with the Atlas passive it take way too long,
sure it looks cool on the trailer in the campaign but it's not practical in T16 Deli maps.
And Also why do we need to see Delwinn in maps?
It so annoying once you kill the whisp and you go for your loot, this stupid Delwinn stay in the middle of it and it trigger the dialogue box just for you to die to volatile or on ground effect..
I think it would feel way better if when triggered the whisp would go by itself to the next mob without having us to follow it without killing mobs...
I agree they are too slow. I theory you could take advantage of them, by killing the rare they are going towards, and keep them for the entire map. But I don't really know how much loot buffed the white mobs they touch are, if any.

I feel like you'll be shooting yourself in the foot with strat like that. It's doable BUT:
- It will take forever to cover whole map with the wisp.
- Loot from white mobs is barely registers with any item filter, and even boosted with wisps (if there's any boost at all) it is quite underwhelming (maybe 0.2.0g will change that, but I don't believe you can methodically farm whites when the mechanic is basically focused on buffing rares with white's sacrifices).
- And I'm pretty sure the bonus they give to final rare is limited as well, so it's not like you can stack it indefinitely and then cash out in the end.
All in all it seems like a huge waste of time any way you look at it.

This is such a funny complaint considering that is only really true for broken meta abusing builds that delete everything without thought.

In a normal build if anything it is likely you might die cuz the wisp can rush you forward due to fear of losing it, but now I learned to let it die rather than risk death

But broken meta builds ARE normal. This is what vast majority of people play. Hence the word normal.

Normal
/ˈnɔːml/
adjective
conforming to a standard; usual, typical, or expected.

While playing some masochistic niche zdps build is by definition abnormal and only enjoyed by few.

do most people do play broken meta builds?

most people who grind endgame to 90+, play 100s of hours, post in forums/reddit, watch streams etc sure. but that is not most players right?

even people playing meta skills, most of them are not geared to a point where its actually playing in a broken gigfast way and most of them are not rly pushing that OMGFLOORISLAVAGOT2GOFAST OMG OMG OMG IWASTED5SECONDS FUUUUUUUUUUU MYEFFICIENCYBROWTF vibe. theyre just casually playing the game, standing around in the middle of a map fiddling with some trash blue item, looting wisdom scrolls, going out of their way for a pile of 25 gold etc.

honestly i play poe1 in a very streamlined way, i hate non linear maps, i will favourite 2 maps and then spam them forever with ultra strict loot filter, mass trading blah blah.

with poe2 i think it has a chance to be a better game than that. it can actually be a game played like a game, not some screen nuke clickerhero trashfest of dopamine per second idiocy. the more they give in to every aspect of endgame being about ultra efficiency it becomes a vicious circle. the more you trim the fat the more any fat at all just sticks out, things go from ppl being mildly annoyed they wasted 30 seconds to being angry they wasted 5 seconds because the game becomes less and less about playing a game and further down the road of rapidly clicking a button because you get a shot of neurotransmitter happy chems every time the loot filter goes dink.

dink dink dink dink dink dink omg so much dinks bro brain go happy sauce OMG dink dink dink dink....

you cant get away from an arpg gravitating towards efficiency thinking, thats in the dna of the format, but if i were them i would resist falling down that hole of letting endgame become consumed by it, to the point where id let the players who can cold turky from that D3/PoE1 vibe get back to enjoying actual game play and those who cant just make them a new poe1 league already and let them leave.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

+1

I'm playing a normal non-broken build. Wisps are sometimes too hard. They make all the mobs tankier and it's sometimes hard to keep up with it. Especially if it enhances tough mob types.

It was impossible to do wisps when I started low waystones.
Honestly, dont even waste time doing them till next patch.

High risk low reward
This mechanic - in the way it's implemented - is a total miss.

Somebody who is going slow and still finding rare packs challenging doesn't have the capacity to babysit and constantly pay attention to one additional thing, whereas people who have progressed past that don't want to be slowed down and/or forced to backtrack through areas they already cleared, because some wisp decided that is the path it's going to take.

This is yet another thing that was solved in poe1 and has been changed for the sake of it, instead of that experience actually being taken advantage of. I'll reiterate what I said back in December - not everything that is in poe1 is bad.
