Enabling trolls, muting regular players, and the state of moderation (plus a suggestion)

TL;DR:
Someone comes in, starts talking about woke culture, and a variety of other issues, and at some point I reply:
"Oh look, one of Elon's parrots has something to say ; Ignored ; Take care y'all"

A few minutes later, I'm muted. I contacted support, was told my comment breached Code of Conduct by discussing "Politics or Religion". I argue that talking about Elon is PoE culture, I receive a response that reclassifies my comment as Inflamatory, and that'd be no further discussion.

All the while, the same people kept bringing up other issues: trans rights, war, etc. Because people are here to play the game, they're not reported.

Long story short: GGG is allowing trolls to come in, throw flamebait, then gang up reporting on people. The organized aggressors continue their trolling, those who dare reply get punished.


Suggestion:
I offered a suggestion that'd curbe this issue:

1. When someone is reported, inform them that they've been reported, and they are now in probation for X period of time.
2. If a new report is received for someone's messages posted *after the warning* is sent and while in probation, mute them for 10x the length of time.

This would at least offer people who're engaging in good faith a chance to recognize they're being lured, and disengage accordingly.
