Game Started as Excellent and now its Terrible
" Just like in any other game, ever? The initial burst of players is ALWAYS huge when something new is released. Then the playerbase drops of. That's completely normal and nothing new. You complainers literally cherrish this argument like it's something special. |

" My answer is based on facts. You can see proof on Twitch and massive complain on YT + catastrophic reviews on Steam. Simple, game looks now as Souls ARPG for people without life.... thats means odiens are VERY limited...thats means GGG must change direction. |

" Your answer is based on the very principals of humanity itself. Just look at any other service game in the steam charts. Something new is released, playerbase goes up, and falls down pretty steeply. That is literally no argument about the quality of the game. |

" Wrong. This game is not a sequel, it's more like a spin-off. POE2 violates everything that made POE1 great. Game is called Path of Exile 2, so you would think it's a sequel, but it's really not. Too many things and systems are different. POE1 is by far the best ARPS of all time. It's only logical to expect that game called POE2 is going to be a continuation, where they take everything that made POE1 great and throw out the rest, modernize it and add some new elements. But that's not what happened here. It's like POE1 is the best wheel that was ever invented, even though it has a lot of rough edges and is not perfect. POE2 literally tries to reinvent the wheel again, they used outer shell from previous game, so that is why you think it's still the same game, but it's not. Not even close. POE2 is like POE1 with ruthless mode, where you have no mobility skills, no crafting, no item drops. On top of that they are trying to reinvent things like skill gems. Uncut skill gems system is horrible, it introduces useless loot, links being tied to skill gems instead of armor severely limit experimentation. Heavy focus on forcing players to use skills as combos makes combat slow and tedious, and simply does not work well, in environment when you have no mobility skills and monsters are a lot faster on you. They introduced idiotic scrapping system. They are pulling elements from souls-like games such as dodge roll, which has no place in a game like this, the list goes on and on. Bottom like is POE2 is nothing like POE1. It's not a worthy successor. In my eyes game is not fixable, they would need to remake it completely, as around 90% of design choices are horrible. (horrible simply meaning they made a game I would never want to play) |

Many of the negative points mentioned in this thread is very much spot on.
Let me just add, I remember when DOTH was dropped and I saw my previous builds DPS was cut by over half. That alone told me what to expect on replaying those characters =( It seemed to me like they were not making incremental adjustments but made a lot of bad severe blind hacks. Even removing Grim Feast altogether just showed that did not know what to do.....instead we got showered with a hundred 100 support gems to appease the crowds on what they messed up on. แก้ไขล่าสุดโดย Emmet#9384 เมื่อ 31 พ.ค. 2025 08:43:46

" [Removed by Support] As a veteran of the hospitality industry, working at a range of establishments all the way up to restaurants with steaks at 1500$ and bottles of wine up to 25000$, I can tell you that yes, people want the explicit details of what you do or do not like about something. I have worked at hotels where we find out the exact details of what a person likes, setting up their hotel rooms in specific ways or surprising them in order to turn moments into memories and giving them the experience they come to know, love and expect from us (because the difference between good service and great service is exceeding people's expectations). Details matter. If people did not want details, then why do companies pay people for feedback? Why are surveys in the world? Companies pay for this information... Why do you think GGG gave people Early Access to the game? Because details matter. Why do most games launch early access? Because they want to know what people like and dislike about their game... " hey... chef ramsey... this company just ran the most successful arpg for the last 10 years. they know what we want. they dont need to ask us what we want. they know. and they didnt give it to us. they didnt exceed expectations. they underwhelmed, and actively pushed their playerbase away, from BOTH of their games. your irl self glaze is just as bad as your actual take. huge L. my take? not an L. wanna know why? because its the truth. here let me... rephrase... my take. when youre hell's kitchen wannabe chef hands, burn a steak. the customer sends it back to your overpriced restaurants kitchen. with 'its burnt.' (installed game, and had a bad experience, went to the forum and said 'games bad, it isnt fun, campaign was a slog') they dont go into detail about flavor. how you cut the steak. how much of it is on the plate. how much it cost. what it smells like. nothing. just. its burnt. (they dont go into detail about anything other than 'its bad' for the most part) and will most likely, never come to your bad cooking, overcharging, restaurant, ever again. (uninstalled the game) your not getting any meaningful feedback from that customer because they didnt go into bullet points and list details? id say you are. that you need to learn how to cook (you need to change the direction of your game) แก้ไขล่าสุดโดย Innuendos#5095 เมื่อ 31 พ.ค. 2025 20:33:42

" People aren't mind-readers. Feedback has played a massive roll as to how humans have come this far as a species. If people just said "I don't like it", then how would anyone know what to improve? Or how to improve? GGG didn't end up making POE by randomly guessing what players wanted. It took a lot of trial and error, and plenty of feedback. They aren't simply guessing what players like. In every interview, Jonathan and Mark end up asking for details and specific examples from players about issues with the game, likes and dislikes, etc. It's a lot more than just: "Did you like it?" "No" "Oh, what did you not like about it?" "It's bad." "Can you name something you specifically didn't like?" "I didn't like it." If that is the case, they are going to move on to someone else who gives explicit details, because at the end of the day, detailed feedback is better than "I didn't like it". If people tend not to go into details with complaints, there is a big chance that their feedback will simply get ignored. Constructive criticism will always be more important that just criticism with no actual substance. Critical thinking goes a long way and leads companies and people to be successful. There would be no Path of Exile if GGG didn't have any constructive criticism about Diablo 2... They literally had feedback about that game, and used it to make their own game, aka POE. And then they took the public's critical criticism to refine POE to what it is today. The same goes with Gordon Ramsay. He doesn't just tell people if the food is bad, he goes into detail about what exactly is wrong with it so that they know how they can improve. And FYI, at a restaurant that serves 1000$ A5 Kobe, the steak is always going to be cooked to perfection. It won't make it out of the kitchen if it's not... Let's work together to make this world a better place :)
