I just ran my first temporal chains map

It wasn't that bad. I've been avoiding temp chains ever since I started mapping because everyone makes it sound like it's worst thing ever. I just ran one and yes it was annoying, so I ported out and swapped in the Time of Need reservation skill, and that helped a lot. Really though, this makes me want to go out there and buy temp chains maps off people selling them because the general perception of them seems to be over the top compared to how bad they are (likely driving down the value of them on the market). No I'm not actually fact checking myself before hitting the submit button on this post.

PS. The most annoying thing about temp chains is that the area on the ground is huge, and if you don't have much movespeed, and if you are already afflicted with temporal chains, it becomes a self-reinforcing feedback loop where you can't get out of range of the circle once you're already afflicted with it in the first place. But again... time of need comes in to save the day, if you need it.

The only reason I'm posting this is because historically I have seen many times, game developers bend over backward and crumble under the outcries and lamentations of more casual gamers, who eventually over time (through a war of attrition on forums/social media) drive the developers to give in to power creep, making video games trivially easy and turm them into zoomfests.

Yeah unfortunately some builds can't swap spirit gems. Because our build is around the spirit gem. Like cast on crit and convalesense with chaos inoculation . If they make time of need like 5 spirit sure keep temp chains as is. But until then I'm selling every temp chains maps to the vendors i won't even sell them to other players

Yep I hear ya. I think that's pretty fair though, some builds can't run some mods. I remember back in the day they had monsters reflect a % of damage they take. I have often steered away from making zoomy builds and I remember the outcry on the forums from people loading into maps and one-shot killing themselves because they didn't take the time to read the modifiers on the map.

Normal people won't "outcry", they uninstall, do chargeback. It seems you are the 0.1% who loves to be tortured. Congrats.

Now, imagine a player that use minion as his main dps source. The minions cannot avoid that debuff and guess what, they will attack/cast/move 40% slower.

That's just one example of why it's bad. 20 seconds is way too long and so is the radius of that debuff. You ran one map, but when you will run them consisently, if you are not using something like Time of Need, it truly is a crippling effect.

Overall, it's absolutely not worth the hassle of finding a workaround towards this. The only logical way to deal with this is to vendor the map for around 9k gold. This is the correct guide to deal with it :

There's other ways to mitigate too, like a new socketable or a unique Boots. The people complaining either don't know about that, or they don't want to be bothered to tinker with their builds.

My plan is to save a bunch of waystones, set up my anti-temp-chains outfit, then run the waystones.

Posts like this only exist because the game is still too easy. As the game gets harder, people will long for the day temp chains was the worst thing they had to deal with.

PS: Chargeback after you played enough hours to get to serious mods on waystones? Good way to get in trouble with your card issuer.

Luckily I don't have to run temp chains. I also don't have to run any content in don't like.

Right! Just reroll or don't use the waystone. Standard in PoE1 with mods that break your build.
