XP Loss is fine.

To counter the "XP loss is too much" spam, I wanted to give a positive feedback on this case:

XP loss starts to be noticeable around level 92 and from 95 on it becomes an issue - but only if you die.
Last few levels are not build defining. Honestly noone really needs to ding 100. It is a luxury, so it should be a challenge to achieve.
So, to do so you invest in really cheap XP omens, grind easier maps or work on your build and skill to dodge when necessary.

People who have breakdown because of xp loss on death are most likely using build from reddit and are expecting to faceroll through the game without any resistance.
It is not your casual roguelike game man. You gotta understand what is happening and how to proceed.

So, if your OCD needs you to get level 100 for you to sleep well, you first gotta stay awake to figure out how to achieve your goal.

"Last few levels are not build defining" is just bullcrap cope. Every skill point gives you something, whether it's defense or damage. So no build is complete until you get maximum amount of points.

XP omen is only there for RMT purposes. And it doesn't even work properly.

I want to die as the game should be challenging.
And I want to be punished for my incompetence that lead to my death, so I feel motivated to learn from it and do better next time.

Which part of "not build defining" you misunderstood? Obviously every point gives something. Yet, "last 5 points are not build defining", is still a correct statement.

Doesn't matter what its price is *now*, the whole concept of needing items like that to progress in a game, is to keep RMT business going when there's always something people need to buy. You want to up the price? You nerf the drop rates of such items.

Reminds me of certain old MMO where you needed to RMT health scrolls just to be able to pvp at all. Otherwise you became so squishy that it was pointless.

I quit the game months ago, solely because of XP loss & I won't be returning for as long as they insist on this design. Happy for you getting what you want, but XP loss is not fine for me and my guess is - the huge player dropoff rate is not totally disconnected from this issue.

In the end it actually feels like it's win-win for me though. I win if they change it and make the experience less anti-player & lure me back as a daily player. But I also win if they don't change it - by virtue of them suffering huge player dropoff at their own hands, as a consequence of the frustration they imposed upon me back when I was playing the game.
