Build variety my ass. Game has too many arbitrary and unnecessary restrictions.

If you have higher survivability clearspeed and dmg than a stat stacking gemling in 0.1 i wanna see that build.

Sorry. To clarify, I have better survivability, clear speed, and damage than all of the characters I have played since 0.1. I can see how my comment might have been unclear.

Autobomber, Blink Spark, Attribute stacking had some insanely stupid clearspeed. and nothing in 0.3 can match that.

Maybe - probably. I don't spend much time evaluating (i.e., giving a shit about) the builds I don't play. I assess the game based on my own experiences and don't belly-ache much if there happen to be builds out there that are faster. As long as I'm having fun, clearing efficiently, and progressing through the available content then I genuinely don't care if there are builds out there that are more efficient. It doesn't have any impact whatsoever on my enjoyment of the game.

People argue that imbalanced builds are somehow going to ruin the game because people are generating more currency than me, but the accounts running these ultra-speed builds are run by folks who are playing the game for a living (or acting like it). No matter how perfectly GGG balances the game, these people are always going to be generating orders of magnitude more currency than me. The difference in build efficiency actually ends up being pretty trivial in the long run compared to the fact that they play the game 6+ hours for every 1 of mine.

Like, to be clear I'm not arguing that GGG shouldn't try and balance builds. Of course that's a goal they should work toward. But, I just don't get the mentality of people who act like the game is somehow impossible to enjoy in the meantime. Especially in EA, I expect every League is going to have standout/broken builds because for the foreseeable future they're all going to be introducing massive changes to abilities and classes. I expect it's going to be at least a year before we see a trend away from there being 1-2 "breakaway" builds each League but again that's absolutely no concern of mine. I might even play one of the meta builds one day (probably not I think it usually ends up being pretty boring).

I mean. Yes. I see build guides. So do you. They're right there where they usually are. What are you even saying at this point?

Because the path as it were , has rails.

There are ~104k builds on poe.ninja. 3.7k are playing Tactician. Among those, literally 10 are using the combination of abilities that I am using.

And I'm clearing T15s and have cleared the 2nd tier of all pinnacle bosses.

So I don't know what else to say except you're just wrong dude. You're putting rails up for yourself. GGG didn't put them there.

One of my personal most disliked kind of things is the "have lots of energy shield but only 1hp" node. It's stupid, any toes dip in a poison or chaos pool and your dead.

My guy Chaos Inocculation makes you immune to Chaos Damage (and bleed).
Poison and chaos pools can't hurt you. You get to stand in them and laugh.

Yesterday, I shopped around for some new rings to get my resists caped, and got one with +30% chaos damage on it. I got a poison build, I thought it was going to jump my DMG by 30%. It frekin reduced it somehow. I still don't know how, got rid of the old gear so I can't analyse it in detail.

That would be because of the clearly stated, thoroughly indicated fact the damage of an ailment is determined by the damage of the hit that applied it, using magnitude, and is not scaled itself.

Increasing chaos damage does not improve poison.
A bit that does a larger amount of chaos and/or phys damage will apply a bigger poison.
If your attack does no chaos damage, then obviously a chaos damage buff can't do anything to help.

Increasing fire damage does not directly make ignite do more damage.
But it does allow a fire damaging hit to deal more fire damage, and that provides a larger base for magnitude to use, and that makes the ignite deal more damage.
If you had a way to apply ignite that didn't use fire damage, then fire damage increases wouldn't do anything, just like with poison and chaos increases.

My man, Krimz..... you need to actually read stuff.
These mistakes you're making aren't just mistakes, they are outright refusals to pay even the slightest bit of attention to what you're doing.
Best and most truth filled post on here hands down. I’m so sick of every time i want to start a new character and aside from the same maybe six skills in the whole game
you can use, seeing all the skills being gated behind hoops to
jump though, combos, and other nonsense i lose interest very quickly.

I feel like I made my point pretty clear when I said you're wrong about builds being on rails, but I'll say it again just in case.

And listen man if I'm just having a debate with ChatGPT let me know. I can go talk to it and cut out the middle man.

I would really like to see since launch what % of each ascendency has made it to lvl 70. Not just season per season but overall as well. Deadeye will most likely be at least 50%.
[...]

No chance in hell it's that high : considering the typical drop-off in video games, and hack'n'slash more specifically, about half of the players have likely never made it past Geonor.
It's probably higher when counting characters instead, but still.

But maybe you meant instead :
« What % of lvl 70+ characters are Deadeye ? »
(SoftCore, and including deleted ones.)

Yes that is exactly what I meant. What % of all characters created and made it to 70+ are what ascendency?
Nobody says it's impossible to create builds.

But it's incredibly hard/expensive to have a genuine not-meta build that actually performs. (and almost non-existant)

Let's be honest here.

And then you add the difficulty that all non-meta ascendencies have, + all the difficulty that melee classes have, + all the spells/skills that are borderline useless ?

You end up with patch 0.3, great for sprinting around, trash if you're not meta.
Variety: Lightning only.

Now that Druid is coming too with his Lightning / fire spells; Enjoy lightning builds another league as well.

I constantly feel I'm punished for theory crafting. Just saw they changed toxic domain to only work on certain weapons, Seriously why? Flame wall works on any type of projectile as far as I can tell, living bomb can use any type of damage to detonate, in my opinion all combo skills and supports should work like them and have absolutely minimal requirements. Not only should toxic domain work for any player projectiles, it should also work on melee hits within the area and it should also work for minions attacks, that's how arpgs are supposed to work.

There's a support skill that lets your projectile hits drop caltrops, you probably had no idea it existed because it only works for projectile spear skills. How the hell can that restriction be justified?

« have absolutely minimal requirements »
No. Why ??
So that stats on equipment become worthless on most builds ??

----

Remember that GGG worked hard to try to make weapon swap work in PoE2.

I was confused when I saw that weapon swap speed wasn't instant and talents improving it were on Mercenary side only of the constellation board.
But that now has been changed in 0.3 to be instant.
(WitchHunter does still have extra Weapon Set talents, now buffed from 24+24 to 24+100, but if 24 is not enough for other classes, this could be re-balanced too.)

Some of these limitations should still be relaxed / de-bugged though.

too long of a comment

I mean the issue with many builds is simpyl the clearspeed. If you have a Bloodmage Spark or a Deadeye they have some insane clearspeed. Barely any other build can match.

I have one and its a bit more risky cause its mostly melee, but as long as i dotn get onto desecrated ground (fck you GGG for this) and dont get one shot im mostly immortal. Its just way to much leech i get.

Many builds simply cant do that.
