GGG uniques are BORING. Please do a massive rework.

They literally make the game worse. All I play is tier 15+ maps and pinnacle content. There is no reason to be finding the same trash over and over. Uniques should get people thinking about new builds. These absolutely do not. They are noob traps.

Also for the love of God please stop putting negative effects on uniques. That is completely unneeded. They are already bad enough without them. It makes me think of a guy with one eye about to fight in a boxing match but before it starts the referee also ties down one of his arms as well to " make the fight fair".

+, uniques are boring.
"Build enabling passives" except I sacrifice a banger itemslot for shit stats and can just run a better regular build. There needs to be an incentive, if all we have is a bad tower stacking endgame where efficiency matters then there is no reason to sacrifice a slot giving me rarity for a weird effect.
I think having any uniques in early beta was questionable. They are not ever BiS, and rightly so. They are build enablers.

The work that needs to be done to balance all builds throughout the beta means rapid, iterative development changing the underlying mechanics. Not just in passive tree, but how basic formulae will function in 1.0.

They should have just left them out until we are closer to what the game will be balance wise.
Uniques are boring.
Skill tree is boring.
Ascendancy are boring.
Endgame is boring.
Towers are boring.
Mapping is boring.

..... yeah... it do be like that lmao

Wait a minute, what? I think they have more important issues to focus on. They should have issued an ultimatum and aimed to add all characters, all items, and even all content to the game, making it more stable. The balancing aspect should have been done during the release of 0.9 and 1.0. GGG continues to waste time by focusing too much on balancing. I think there are bigger problems that need addressing.
The biggest issue with uniques is that rares get up to +7 skills across 2h or 1h+shield, +3 on amulet, +2 on glove if melee, +2 on helms if minions, and almost no uniques have skills on them!

In PoE1 you couldn't get that many +skills so it wasn't that bad to drop them for a powerful unique.

Also a lot of the interesting uniques have just been put on shit bases that can never be used anyway.

Honestly they should give us the upgrade recipe from D2 to let us upgrade the base weapon to higher tiers so we can take an early unique and stick it on a top tier base, that would be fun.

I hear you, but I'm a programmer. Look at the mathematical changes to say, armour and evasion. When you implement that, now you need to readjust all items and all builds.

From a player pov, yes, add all the things and tweak them later.

From a software development standpoint, no. Decide on the maths first and then you don't have to change every item and build whenever you feel the basic mechanics aren't working well.

You just save yourself work and man hours in the long run. Sorry if the viewpoint was ill expressed.

Not saying I 100% agree with you on this, but I want to point out that the reason they're doing it this way is that they're treating the EA as a soft release, like a lot of game devs now do. A way to soft release with EA as an excuse for bugs/poor gameplay etc.

Thats why they're doing proper seasons and loot boxes and supporter packs. If it was a true EA they'd be in full beta/dev mode right now, coasting on the millions they made from EA sales, and not worrying about seasons and so on. Just forge forward towards a 1.0 state please!

Dude, I'm kind of a programmer too.

And besides, you never start building a house from the roof down. Trying to paint the windows of a house with a bad foundation would be a joke.
Fixing end game is more important. 99.9% uniques = chance shard which is fine at this moemtn and not that urgent.
