Trial of Sekhemas Dev challenge
I actually like the trials. I do them for fun.
I did a run with the relic that makes the whole map invisible, no room types, no reward and affliction info. Made it with a quarter of my honour left. I got hit with the "can't regain honour" , "traps are faster" and "trap do more damage" afflictions, got dicey when I got a few gauntlet rooms in a row. I now have a completely worthless and useless ring to show for it. My relic setup uses the "% chance of double water from fountains" as high as I can stack it. I'm at 60% now. I just wish the rewards were better. |

I dislike the trials, mostly due to length and lack of reward. But I had no problem getting my 1st and 3rd ascendencies. If I want gear from there I let other people who farm it find the gear and sell it to me.
Just over level it, do the first at like 31+ and the second at 75+. I recall doing it just fine with a few warrior characters back in 0.1. Then ignore it for the rest of your gameplay. |

" C'mon that's way too far, it's just not thought out, or well tested. No need to attribute personal emotions and qualifications. That's just silly! The trial has too many bugs and weirdness, esp. when it comes to traps and on-death mechanics - i.e. the lightning ghosts in the escape trial will chase you while deciding if you wish to change the afflictions. The traps are considered monsters but hit like 20 times a second, making afflictions like losing water or hp/es on hit a horrid choice. The golem bros explosion on death while picking the loot and so on. The list can go on. If doing it w/o buying extra relics (mostly for the 4th ascension) it require tons of runs to accumulate enough relics. But even the 3rd likely needs few extra runs on 50ish to get relics. It's quite a fair critic, albeit the OP is over the top. |

" Acquiring each new set of ascendancy passives are some of the most rewarding moments of every playthrough for me. I love the burst of new power and the opportunities it opens up. Running the trial knowing you could possibly fail but also knowing what is waiting at the end after success is a big part of what makes these fun for me. I see at least a post per day on here from people complaining about the difficulty of the trials and as of yet I haven't seen one that didn't boil down to a lack of awareness and forethought about how to mitigate the risk and manage the difficulty. As I say in every thread get room peek relics. Before maximum honour/resistance, the ability to see additional rooms ahead of you on the map is the absolute single most important thing you can get if you want to pass with consistency. 2 rooms should suffice, but 3 makes for a cakewalk. In order of priority, peeking rooms allows you to: - Manage your afflictions; avoid the most devastating and choose ones that have little to no impact on your build or that are balanced by your boons (e.g., take -damage of you have a +damage boon, etc.). - Maximize the Merchant; peek rooms to go after sacred water - especially large fountains (yes, even if that means a gauntlet instead of a ritual or hourglass); hit the Merchant as often as possible and clean him out - this is how you stack boons without also stacking afflictions and you can also get +1 room peek from him early on - Avoid "only bad choices" nodes; sometimes there's an attractive node, but it's followed by multiple branches that all lead to terrible, potentially run-ruining choices; peeking ahead lets you spot these traps and work around them even if it means giving up some juice. That's it; do this and you will walk through every trial. I usually end up with a small handful of afflictions most of which don't actually affect me and a list of boons like the one below (oh, and my ascendancy points of course). ![]() |

" No, 6 make it easier. Less rooms where you can lose honour. Less rooms where you can get afflictions. All of the bosses are SUPER easy once your gear is decent enough. I can do 10 sekhemas in a row and always win. Some runs are easier then others, but as long as you avoid afflictions, it's really easy. The most important thing is: Get AT LEAST 75% honour resistance. I even got myself to 81% by using 2x 3% increase of max honour resistence. Furthermore, increase your defences and max honour. This helps alot. Also look out for more damage on monsters, which includes bosses. And I would get ONE relic with +0.7 dodge distance. It helps alot with traps, monsters and bosses. This way, sekhema becomes easy even without any boons. Afflictions are the only thing that can literally ruin your run, so better avoid getting afflictions. Even "harmless" afflictions are bad, because it reduces the pool of bad afflictions, making it more likely to get a run destroying one later. I dont like Sekhema much because it takes to long, but it's definitely doable with some good relics. You can get a full set of REALLY strong relics for just 10 exalted... |
