The highest transgression across many cultures is to put a person above a god/divine entity, so it would follow that the greatest sin is to assume such position. I mention this because I don't think Hooded One is a true god. Even if we take the creation myth literally, Innocence brother 'Sin' was burned, and his ashes spread to man. Its possible that some powerful mortal was affected by these mythical ashes and rose to godhood, then attempted to prohibit any future ascensions by creating the beast. So what would be Hooded One's motivation to actually get rid of it? Believing a literal deception incarnate is also naive to say the least.
Imo Hooded One is using us and everyone else for his own goals, he might of sent us to the past as a fools errand to proceed with his plan unimpeded. His appearance right after we defeated Innocence is also rather suspicious since its Innocence that prosecuted him throughout time, time and time again. The story of virtue and self sacrifice is Innocence story, not Sin's. Maybe it wasn't Sin's primary intention to create chaos, destruction and death when he planted the beast, but that doesn't mean he actually cares about any of that enough to stop his initial plan. Our savior might be just attempting to stifle another mortals ascension to godhood, to protect himself. All the chaos and destruction might just be collateral damage to him. 'The only chance to save humanity'. Who's humanity? The humankind or the humanity that would be lost when ones achieves godhood? He might of done it with Atziri, Chitus and the Precursors as well. Hooded One/Sin was said to be chained to a cliff in the past and got freed by a traveler that eventually ascended to godhood. Sounds like history repeated itself here. And most importantly: who is ascending this time? Now I'm not saying that no 'good' can come out of it. Mortals achieving godhood is a transgression for a reason. Neither am I saying that Innocence (good intentions) will always result in 'good/better' world for everyone. It would be yet another duality that is present throughout all characters in the game. tl;dr:

Update: Seems I was wrong about my take on the cipher, I saw someone mentioning abyss in another thread, VERY EXCITING! abyss was fire. Hopefully its not Syndicate, which i never engaged with so I wont be even of any help with the lore lol new teaser:  Edit: In the dark we thrive might be literally describing the 3 symbols. (Well?/Darkness , Birth/Thriving) would the first symbol even make sense to be 'In/Within' seem way to open to me, maybe 'Bottom/Limit' connecting to Well?/Abyss can convey 'In the darkness' ? The circle turns to 11 or 10, 1 or 2, and 9 before opening. not sure if the release date got pushed to 1st/2ns Sept at 10pm? lol Also what the hell is he saying at 'In the night we 'apym'?? We were only taught what was passed down for generations. We believed the Horns to be the ultimate tool of life and death; capable of siphoning the very breath of life from any living thing. We do not know where it came from. Perhaps the remains of a powerful, long-dead animal. Perhaps a creation of the gods themselves. Regardless of its provenance, I believe the Horns are what have given the Immortal Syndicate their miraculous ability to return from the dead unscathed.

He created the beast(first one) and he said he was asleep (due to beast's power?) when it was alive and yet he knows how to forge the weapon and also he tellin me the vaals know more about the beast than its own creator? Hooded bro is a liar. |

" I don't think the 3rd edict is the new league, but the start of it (concluding act3, starting act4) my initial guess was that us traveling to the past and the boom boom were only so close due to missing acts, and convenient transition to either 'cruel diff' and then to maps. Imo the 4th act will be ancestral (fire) and the current end of act3 would be the beginning of maps. but the current teasers seem to point that the boom boom was in fact a turning point/conclusion/edict of act3, so I don't think what you wrote contradicts with act4 being 'fire' and even if 4th edict burns, which would be another turning point at the end of act4, with act5 being cold, mountainous as per d2 act progression traditions we all love by now. แก้ไขล่าสุดโดย AintCare#6513 เมื่อ 16 ส.ค. 2025 15:18:54

Ok just help me understand this thing about the boom boom.
So the explosion (before maps) happens in the past meaning we witnessed what vaporized the vaals (atziri communion with the beast went wrong?) are we going to play in the past (400 BIC) and maybe witness events prior the first chapter? Like rescue this ancient weapon to kill the beast that lives in our era? Am i going too far? :D Edit:

If you go back to Normal Difficulty Act 3 (completed), you'll see Doryani is now in town standing next to Oswald. This is the Present. We are not in the Past anymore moving forward in the story, at least for now. We went to the Past, picked him up, and brought him back with us.
Sin agrees with Doryani's plan to acquire the Precursor weapon tech in Ngamakanui (Karui people, etc). That's Act 4. The dialogue is titled "Doryani's Capture." That means we're going to Ngamakanui (Present). |
