POE2 already needs a PhD to be played.

Agree here, the game is already over complicated. I have 1 friend trying to hang on but most have already quit. I've been playing for over a year already and don't even want to touch the crafting system because of how tedious and complicated it looks.

Best example is the new Vaal Temple...if you go in without any knowledge this mechanic is horrible and gives almost no reward.

First I did not read all so just commenting on this.

I might be a big minority but actual I do like mechanics like this. I liked Syntheses first iteration and I did like the Gardening first iteration. Stuff I have to puzzle out how to get a decent (not perfect but working) layout even if it takes time.
And I wish there would be more of it :).

On the other hand I am aware that most players are min-max oriented and don't want to click more then one button (if not non). So Breach and Ritual are far more popular. Start, kill, done. No thinking involved.

Just don't realy understand why Delve isn't more popular (start, kill, loot) and Betrayal is so popular (does take quite some time to set up).

Btw Temple mechanic is not complicate at all. Place rooms so that you get as many T3s as possible. It's not min-maxed then but you still get good EXP and Loot. In additions rooms are removed only from the very end of a line. Oh yea, and read the tooltips ^^. They realy do help.
All you need to know to get nice earnings.

Without the exploiting this could have been one of my most favorite leagues of all time :/.

Have 2 * T3 exp and 2 * Bodymod rooms atm and decent enough setup for several DIV/run. To bad they aren't worth anything anymore after the debacle :(.

The other thing that makes it really weak is also the fact that the crafting mats are also the primary currency... I'm not sure why they thought that's a good idea... but in reality it just makes most people not want to craft.

Yup...I can't say exactly why but in POE2 this feels even more impactful than in POE1.

It would be way better if they put everything crafting related into 1 Bench (Everything that currencies currently do).

And all the currencies we currently have are just a "booster" in the crafting bench to have better odds for certain crafts.

Something like expedition Rog craft in POE1, just with our regular currencies...or better said exactly the same would be ideal in terms of crafting process and overlay. :)

This way we would beat 2 flies with 1 clap:

1. Way better crafting overview becasue we would have everything crafting related at 1 spot.

2. We would use all currencies more frequently instead of saving them for purchases on the trade website.

This would also help to regulate the economy better, instead of havin a horrendous inflation if the 0,1% of the playerbase abuse certain currency farming mechanics and therefore kill the market for us normal human beings. ;)

Especially the crafting with 10000 million different orbs and stuff—it's hilarious at this point!

Anything in the game that forces you out of the game to go to to any 3rd party websites for any reason is piss poor game design. Everything you need should be in the game, but it isn't. GGG made some progress with the trade market, but its too little too late.

Nothing is forcing you do that except when you plan your skill tree. Everything you need IS in game. I never watched any guide and I'm learning everything ingame. It's slow and ineffective yes, but it's also very enjoyable. PoE (both) is mostly about exploring and discovering imo so I'll never rob myself of that.
