Lack of visual clarity and monster balance in endgame needs adjustment.

Balancing the game (especially monsters) around very fast characters with massive screen clearing explosions is still in a rough spot in endgame.

A lot of the good combat feel during campaign and early maps is lost.

The density changes were a step in the right direction, but it still just feels like a survivors game like PoE1 once you reach the endgame, making it more fun to reroll than actually farm maps.

Sadly, I don't think they care about it anymore.

When asked about it in one of the interviews it was also a very dodgy answer where Jonathan basically said they kind of did the density change because players were complaining about getting swarmed... and that was it, nothing more behind it apparently.

Player power still through the roof, balance nowhere to be found... and honestly even if they were to fix these... they would be faced with a lot of poor monster and boss designs that they'd need to work on way more... and even worse.. a lot of reworks to existing skills, mechanics etc.

Can't say I see this happening... especially judging by how things have went so far.
"Sigh"
Given the changes to map bosses gaining that durability, I'm hoping it's on their radar.

So many people complain about campaign being too long and wanting to skip it, but the combat actually feels better in the campaign than the endgame.

I can't even tell what monsters are doing because they get fast and their whacks hit so hard, so I invest in making my character blow everything up...

It's kind of the same issue I had with PoE1 over the years.
Hope they try to strike some balance.. Or add a ruthless mode or something.

Yeah, endgame is just being swarmed by huge groups of enemies all potentially hitting you at the same time at rapid speeds with all sorts of particle effects going on, where any one mob can one shot you if you are unlucky, which turns the game into an arms race where you either do the one shotting or they do.

As much as I'd like to believe in them... it's been over a year now and I can't say I see a lot of changes for the better.

Seen quite a few even go in reverse too.. like some skill designs.

At the same time they also faced so much pushback in the past for wanting to make the gameplay better.. it's hard for me to even blame them for it to some degree. That being said... Devs that don't stick to their vision and let others dictate their direction so much can't possibly make a truly successful game.

I think there's a solid middle ground here.
Given we got NO endgame rework, but those changes to the bosses and map density, and other deliberate design like the abyss mobs stepping out of the tornado, I'm sure it's on their radar.

How far they commit to it is another story, we'll see.

It's a hard balance to strike for them since their entire history for the better half of a decade has been "More speed, more power, more zoom!"

but they have an entire other game to commit to that design paradigm, I'd really like to believe it here.

I would also like a better Q&A than what we've been getting... The people who silently enjoy the deliberate combat seem vastly under represented by the Twitch audience that GGG caters their Q&A and streams to.

This was the design paradigm from PoE1 that I'd really like PoE2 to shift away from.

The campaign is SO GOOD.
agree.

Can't blame players chasing screen-clearing bds when all the challenges endgame are all about zero-brain mobs with crazy RNG stacking modifiers.

and actually we are not fighting with mobs, we are fighting the mods LOL.
Another motivator for the dps race/super fast clearing is in how several major things like Delirium, Breach, and Abyss all reward speed clearing as fast as possible.

+1 for the post. End game visual clarity is worse each patch. X Grounds, corpse liquid dot grounds, green grounds, ignite OP burn (deals 2k damage over 4 sec) etc etc. I really love the game i wanna play but i wanna focus my enemies instead of grounds.
