game is broken.
Nobody is going to run mitigate death items.
Please go be a spokesman for a different game.
People like you are killing PoE.
Bad claim with no data to back it up.
Go to steam reviews, XP loss is the least of the problems people have.

The death penalty mechanic needs to exist to make survival meaningful. The real issue is balance, along with occasional damage spikes and other issues that cause sudden deaths out of nowhere. Since the game is still in early access, such problems are to be expected.
So maybe save your efforts for when the game is in better shape, or make use of talismans that reduce XP loss on death.
To be done with the game for now is also not a bad option after almost 300 hours.

we now also got better defense options and we don't need to go CI anymore
Sitting at 2k life, 1K ES and about 800 mana pool and just slapping 3 MOM runes in my body armor along with good mana leech and mana on kill, bam, never dying on maps ever again and I didn't need to stack 10k ES.
Thing is that if we're gonna go ahead and come here to cry without even taking into account the tools provided, you can be certain that devs will keep ignoring these posts, and what's worse, it'll make them ignore the other more important posts due to clutter and endless back and forth on a subject that they will NOT CHANGE and for good reason.
Whenever "anti XP penalty warriors" can carry their argument to validity AFTER using everything the game provides, only then there may be somewhat of a point to the premise

Never said I was dying once per map. I never said I was guaranteed to get my XP back in Elden Ring, I literally said I have the option. About the only time I'm guaranteed to lose it is a boss room if I choose to fight one beyond my level. The fact it's not an ARPG is irrelevant, just another excuse you can use, it boils down to my time.
Yeah, people who are God players can clear Elden Ring without XP, 99% of the player base needs to level up. I do need to XP to get good gear that allows me to take on harder content.
Regardless, that's a game with much less hand holding and more challenge and I'm having more fun. Claiming I need hand holding is just a pathetic attempt to diminish my opinion while trying to puff up your chest about how much of a great gamer you are. It's really just sad and snobby.
It's not about how good I hypothetically am, it's how you're refusing to get better with simple changes.
I also feel like I must reiterate that elden ring allows you infinite safe XP. That IS handholding like it or not. (and it's still a really bad comparison)
See you feel like you should be rewarded in X amount for your time, in the same sort of "feel" for two completely different games and genres. It is not the same. I'm not supposed to progress equally or have the same friction in a a megaman sidescroller vs a MMORPG.
I get that you feel like I said that you're dying once per map, maybe I need to explain basic hyperbole to you, this was HYPOTHETICALLY ASSUMING you die once per map, even then you can break even in progress if you're using the tools available to you. It is not the game's fault that you choose to intentionally gimp yourself due to stubbornness and feeling like this should behave like a different genre.
Is it more clear now? do a map, buy 10 omens for the day. Go die as often as you like and you'll still progress.
I'm done responding to you. You don't want a conversation, you want to use strawman arguments and make the absolute worst assumptions about my play experience. You think you are in some special club of no hand holding and want to puff your chest out over an ARPG game because I think XP penalty with no recovery in the current balance of things is too much, it's really pathetic.
And yes, you literally said I was dying once per map. I don't care about if it was hyperbole or not, I've explained in multiple posts in multiple threads I die usually around once in ten maps and the XP penalty is ridiculous. Having to purchase omens, or grind ritual alters that are set up in horrible spots most the time, just to work around a bad design is just more tedious work and another bad design.
I doubt you've touched mercenary, which is what I exclusively played, you're probably playing an ES build on the right side of the skill tree. You probably won't admit it, but you looked up a build guide and spent a ton of time farming divs to buy gear, then you want to pretend no one held your hand. Elon would approve

No. What Lobo said should have cleared it all up. Game is not balanced. Good luck banging your head against the wall if you're trying to make an evasion-only character work.

Game is not balanced proves my point. I don't play evasion "only", but if you play Merc evasion is the primary defense and trying to go ES requires jumping over the skill tree which negates DPS and then requires the perfect build with God tier gear.
While the game is not balanced, death penalty needs to either be severely reduced, reduced to only penalty on current map, or allow players to recover where they died. Not doing that will only result in players leaving and most probably not returning even if things get fixed eventually. I don't understand why people actually have the attitude of "well it's not balanced so go away until it is." That's only going to destroy the player base

No one wants to put in hours to put a temporary fix on something that will just be undone later. The game needs to be balanced. Just deal with the EXP loss man it's not worth getting angry about.

Evasion is awesome. Just don't go all out evasion ignoring everything else. Weaving in even a small amount of ES goes a long way. I'm sitting at 84% evasion with Hyrri's, 1.5k HP, 1k ES. I basically never die outside of bugs like citadel bosses not doing the phase transition, or when I screw up on Arbiter.
Even as Merc, you can just run ES helmet and boots while anointing something like Heavy Buffer or Patient Barrier. That's very little investment.
EXP loss is perfect the way it is. Deal with it intentionally if you want those optional levels past 90, or just ignore EXP once you get to that point. The extra talents provide almost no extra benefit anyways.

Nah I don't just deal with it. I uninstalled and stopped playing after I got tired of my time being wasted. I enjoyed the game other than some major flaws that made me want to stop playing, which is why I'm in a feedback forum giving feedback
