Why Does PoE2 Keep XP Loss on Death?
Yep, i just died at 98 so im taking a break for a week play something else until update, but i accept that this is POE and part of the game.

Nah I'm done for now, this is not for me, all characters are worse off than 6h ago. Just hours of progress gone is 1 shot where I often cannot tell what was it or how to avoid it (with maxed evasion and maxed resistances). Nothing drops to upgrade my gear, and forcing people to buy better one is not fun. Will wait for more updates, maybe something brings me back. Waste of timer to continue this misery.

Soft core is already pointless enough as it is. If you renove xp on death it actually becomes pointless

" Actually, if you remove exp loss it becomes more fun. |

EXP loss is doing exactly what it's supposed to do. Levels beyond 90 are optional for ladder players. Get over it.

XP loss is just an archaic piece of game design that betrays PoE's age and its main inspiration being Diablo 2. It has no place in a modern, competitive gaming market, but as with anything, no matter how poor a design decision it is, there will always be people defending it, just because.

" Then ladder players should have their own server. The vast majority of players don't care about ladders |

Because XP is literally the only thing you lose on death and death should matter at least a little. It's not even a big loss. You get a certain tier of gear, you level to fil that gear and than stabilize until you get the next tier. Which I think creates a perfectly ok gameplay loop. Like I would be super upset it if was removed but I do feel like I wouldn't care about what level I am anymore. It wouldn't mean anything other than pure playtime.

" Erm, no it isn't. You're losing the map, and any items that may drop during the map. A strange amount of people like not having fun in this game. Like max level being only for "ladder players" in the softcore mode of a PVE game. WTF. แก้ไขล่าสุดโดย Mamillian#8657 เมื่อ 4 มิ.ย. 2025 18:06:47

Because levels past 90 are entirely optional and meant to require significant effort and investment to achieve. The vast majority of players are not supposed to get anywhere near level 100. It's supposed to be a chase and it's reflected in a ladder. Those levels are supposed to mean something.
