It’s just a pity really

All the experience GGG gained from POE 1 and after several years of developing POE 2 5 months of customer testing the game is still in such a state. It is apparent they either don’t know their customers or are looking for a different customer. This game plays badly plain and simple. Every step into this is just painful and not really fun to play.

I just started a new character to see what has improved and just maybe hopefully is now something fun to play. Yes some of the mobs are better but virtually all the basic issues still exist. There is really not way to fix problems with you character in act one. There is not enough currency to try to make gear you pick up into anything that really helps. The character is glued to the ground so you can’t move and movement is so slow you are always hit and then stunned.

I like building characters but POE2 is just a frustrating. The gem system is at best poor. Maps though beautiful are poorly laid out. Act Bosses are awful and so overpowered for the level of the character and movement speed it is just ridiculous. Sure I know it gets better or it did get better the first time I played up to lvl 16 maps, not outstanding but better.

Here is the point though; I don’t care about the end game if I have to fight for days and days going thorough each act to just get stuck on the Act boss for hours and hours trying to get through it. Honestly I’m not sure how they are planning on making money on this if nobody plays it and then nobody supports it regularly, like I have POE 1.

Steam has that I have played for 600 hours most in the first months of release. And I played POE 1 over 10,000 hours.

It’s just a pity that POE2 is still really just not fun to play.
I guess I will review if a major release comes out but darn what a pity

I am having a blast! I play it for hours each day. Started playing in 2014. Loving the game. Don't know what this person is on about. Go play something else, if you don't like it so much, ya big complainer.

Lol tons of people already have.
It really is.

I just started an SSF run, and the lack of actual crafting exacerbates so many of these issues.

How exactly have you played Path of Exile 2 since 2014 for hours each day?
Oh! I didn't realize it is the empty, complaining-only feedback forum. Sorry for the positivity. And, for loving the game far more than you. XD

This dude seems to live in another universe...
OP is speaking about the dvp of PoE2 bro, and the fact that the developers are reproducing the same mistakes on PoE2 that they made on PoE1 and then corrected.
is the post making sense to you now?

My view on the topic is rather that they have taken a position that has become dominant in the video games industry, as is already the case in all current economic sectors. supply creates demand, we don't care what gamers want, they will adapt and consume what we offer them. and they will learn to appreciate and pay for what we want to give them...

they're not trying to retain the historical player base, or attract another community in particular. They put maximum money and energy into marketing via steam/youtube/twitch/streamer and then seek to shape the gaming habits of the people they manage to attract.

They're no longer interested in feedback on whether the game is fun or not, the real issues that have become important are identifying what allows them to keep the most profitable players or implement new features to make even more money.

But factually, this strategy is a failure in the medium term.
The marketing effect sold a huge number of keys at the launch of EA, but admittedly the community as a whole has been disappointed. The second major release (0.2) is a good example of this.
The steam reviews and the number of steam players (including Chinese servers and bots) show just how disenchanted players are with EA at the moment.

That doesn't mean, however, that there won't be another spike/rebound in the number of players for 0.3 and 0.4, etc.
but those spikes should be even smaller than the previous ones. Until the final release of the game, which will create the illusion that the game is doing well, when in fact it's just going to attract a whole community that didn't want to pay for EA and is waiting for the game to become free to try it out.

I can already hear the feedback from those who are still enjoying the game. I'm not saying you can't enjoy it, I'm just saying that the majority of people who enjoy the genre don't appreciate the game in its current state or the direction it's taking.

GGG needs a large number of players who pay every month to ensure the continuity of development and server maintenance. And that seems to be compromised by maintaining this way of thinking about the game and its future.
