I played it last league from day 1 until doing T17s and ubers for the first time while figuring things out along the way.

I think the early game trees are still reasonably decent. Don't know if they are optimal, but still. It's pretty much as viable as a slam skill can be. I found it to be better than other contemporary slam skill setups, but it is a little higher effort.
Edit: Automation picks up the banner on cooldown if you're in its radius and you lose its buff because you didn't "leave the area." RIP the dream. It would only be useful for something like Alva temple farming since you never stop until you get where you want to go. It also makes the mana cost 30 instead of 20 whether it's toggled on or not.

I tried out the warcry CDR axe and it worked well. Always had valour to place the banners with Autoexertion (21/20 or 20/23) + GC + 4 other warcries (20/23) in a 6-link. No manual cast warcries needed at all. I didn't care much for the game play of having to hit the banner buttons. Combat doesn't feel weighty to me when you're hitting 3 instant skills.

I played around with the setup I was interested in running with The Wild Bear Oshabi bloodline ascendancy. For 2 ascendancy points and an effective rage pool of 25 instead of 30 baseline you get 100% increased phys damage, hits ignore enemy phys damage reduction, 10% increased action speed, and cannot be stunned. To get 100% uptime outside of combat with the 5 auto-cry setup you need the entire deep breaths wheel, else it will only have ~90% uptime. I don't know if the anti-stun and action speed is worth it.

League started this on trade. Bought the Foulborn Uul-Netol's Kiss just to try it as a decent rolled one was about the same as the axe I was using before. I'm not doing the 1 banner, still manually pressing all of them. It's been way better you basically have 100% uptime on defiance while mapping. Can easily drop dread for capped block while mapping now too. Makes random deaths happen a bit less.

Biggest issue with the build so far has been random deaths. Getting caught out without dread down depending on the mods is a quick way for me to waste a portal. I'm pretty happy with the damage finished atlas and did a t17 and it's felt pretty good so far. I'd like to scale defenses a bit more so farming feels better. On pob it really looks like you'd be tankier without dread down, but I've found that I feel like paper without the block.

Anyways, having a lot of fun so far with it. I'll try and push it further. Though I'm not sure I want to switch this Uul-Netol's Kiss out. Having tons of banner uptime anywhere is great for this league.

Some of what you feel is why I've taken this league to rebuild it for armor/evasion hybrid. I think it actually solves a lot of the discomfort I used to have. So far, I think I like it more than full straight armor, even if chromatics are annoying early league. Because of this, I think I will actually be redoing this build guide in favor of armor/evasion.

So far, my character, with a kinda janky body armor has somewhere around 45% evasion. This does seem to be enough to stop getting shotgunned, and it does alleviate pressure on wanting dread banner to be up all the time while using defiance banner.

I committed to SC this time around because I wasn't certain how armor/evasion would feel. I haven't had any random deaths while testing this - though I do have some deaths because I was screwing around with the league mechanic in act 1 lol. I think it achieves so much damage innately that I think I will be also reworking the passive tree such that it is more defensively oriented. I've figured a few more things out this league so far, and the character concept feels much stronger this time around.
I'll have to look at your build and see how hard it would to swap to armour/evasion stacking. I have stopped a most of my deaths to enemies since swapping to the uul-netol's kiss. If I ever get scared or position myself bad dropping a dread instead of defiance either drops it at full or at least half. I'm pretty convinced the banner node Awe and Terror has killed me a few times. I can't prove it though. Picked it up to see if it helped with clear for breach and to kill the dumb porcupine guys.

Also not sure if it's affected anyone else running this build yet. Not sure if it is warcry related or banner related but getting instance crashes in the new hive and defense stuff. I have a bug report open. Didn't start until I started getting more cooldown reduction on warcrys.
