The steam chart number highlights need to stop.

It's a blind statistic that people are holding up to validate their own opinions about their perceived negative aspects as if it lends them credibility - it doesn't.

PoE1 had a similar situation when it released where people were clamoring about it being a dying game that was only initially pumped up off of D3-failure-fumes. GGG has the dedication and the business model that creates a great game. Chris even did a presentation on this once I think about "games being designed to be played forever" or something like that. It's an iterative process.

That process takes time and testing to ensure a quality product and PoE2 is not going to be an exception.

It's 60% still in the oven and arguably higher quality than most other ARPGs out there including it's predecessor, so I don't see how anyone can look at this situation - especially in the context of the development efforts which were applied to PoE1 and we know will be applied to PoE2 - and say anything about this game is "dead" or going in a "bad direction". You'd have to have the most negative of filters draped over your perceptions and be stuck in some sort of bad-player echo-chamber-hell to have this mentality.

I'm already having tons of fun in this game - new content and characters and weapons and skills coming down the pipeline? I am excited! I don't care if there's 5k, 10k, 20k, 100k, or 500k concurrent players on Steam - this has never been a factor in my enjoyment for any game.


yup, unfortunately some ppl use it in attempts to manipulate the devs into giving them what they want. the culmination of it was patch 0.2. I never seen such behavior on scale 'in person' but its unsettling and I don't think it will just stop. and yeah core of the game is great, well made and thought out on balance as well.



You are completely wrong about this. No one wanted what was launched in 0.2. It was not player feedback. Players wanted more viable builds and build game diversity. Instead, they nerfed everything across the board with a hammer.

Most people in 0.1 were talking about better trade experience, better end game mapping, smaller maps or movement speed, and loss of xp on death. None of that was delivered in 0.2.
0.2 was an objective improvement over 0.1. At least in 0.2 you can for the most part keep playing a map if you die. 0.1 endgame was a complete mess. 0.2 launched with more difficulty than it was needed, but they fixed that too.

Steam player counts aren't everything... but the sequel game having worse average player count than what the first game was regularly pulling almost a decade ago - that's not nothing.


POE2 average player count is higher than of POE1.

As of this message, the average steam player count in the last thirty days is under 9k & was under 16k for the month of June.

POE1 was pulling better numbers than this back in 2016-2017.

Maybe some people are ok with that, but just my opinion - I would hope they would've had alot more growth in retaining players than that with their sequel game, over so many years.

i mean my point was exactly that. people review bombing the game because their 'requests' were not fulfilled. so i'm a bit confused rn


Bro my bad, I was tripping when I read your post and thought you meant the devs delivered everything the players asked for in 0.1 into 0.2. I agree with you although some of those QOL changes requested are a good thing.

I mean, the patch itself was bad with very little content. We haven't had a content update since June 05th and looks like nothing will happen until Aug 29th. That's almost 3 months with no new content updates for an EA game. If there are no substantial changes in 0.3 like new acts + class, I plan to skip that league myself. Burnt out already on acts 1-3.

no sweat, i kinda got used to ppl reading things in the most interesting ways on here. but to clarify, i don't think the quality of 'requests' can ever justify this type of behavior.

POE1 steam numbers after 8 months from start were 6k. POE2 numbers after 8 months from start are 10k (9.5 now). Then again, don't forget console players. If you add them, POE2 numbers are better still, because POE1 had none.

0.3 wont bring minions to end game...

tunning needs time

they will buff so you can lvl and start mapping.. at most
