Rings with elemental damage added to attacks also can be added, I agree.
However, they don't anything for pure casters, so rings with base that increases fire / cold / lightning / chaos / elemental damage should be added too. That would be even better than spell damage since such rings can be used by some attack builds too.
Iron Ring just states "Adds 1-4 Physical Damage" it applies to spells and attacks, that is what I imagine the rings would look like but slightly higher numbers

One thing that is annoying in Ring's damage is the low values of lighting damage. Seriously now, 1-80dmg? What's the purpose of this implementation?

For me Rings should have also a different Role.
It's nice to have:
1. +(X amount) of Life
2. Increased % of Life
3. +(X %) of movement speed
4. % of damage reduction ( Physical, Elemental,Chaos etc.)
5. +(X %) of Evasion rating
6. % of slam damage reduction
7. % of AoE damage reduction
8. + (X amount) to Skill gem sockets (meaning 5+X)
9. + (X amount) to weapon slots
10. + X% Cooldown Recovery and Skill effect duration time

ur not the only one, they need to buff elem damage in general
non crit elem builds are unplayble no ways to scale dmg
