the people that hate trade so much, do you not know there's a special mode for you guys?

trade is hurting game development alot. ggg shoudnt focuse on it at all and let people solve it, instead of showing it up right in to everyone face and trying to force as much people in to it by intentionally making game worse

Trade is nail for coffin of this game.

L take.

You just personally hate trading, the vast majority like playing POE 2 because it has free trading and I'm a SSF player myself but clearly not for the same reason as you. I played SSF just because it was a challenge.

Removing trading in the game would be the final nail in the coffin of this game and it would instantly die and break into shambles. There wouldn't be people to be mad in the forums, it would be such an atrocious move the game would simply cease to exist.

well if there is ssf league, why there cant be trade league also? just show this disaster of balancing there and make standart diablo 2 like expirience with stuff actually dropping and currency being actual crafting materials
Before making hasted decisions lets try out the new currency first
Overall I think this is solving a problem that largely no longer exists. Exalts are shaping up to be pretty similar to Alchemy in 1: They have some value day 1, you can trade one for an ok item or a low tier map, but after the first weekend they're pretty much worthless. Without an exalt sink it seems clear to me that Chaos and Divine will be the main trading currency, and exalts will be plentiful enough to slam as much as you want. We'll see if tiered currency changes that any.

Other than that, I strongly dislike any suggestion to disallow trading at any level. Obviously as a crafter and trader I'm very biased, but the economy is the reason I play the game. If they got rid of trade I guess I'd have to go play EVE lol.

I also think it's a pretty ridiculous suggestion. The game from day 1 has always been designed to be centered around trade. I understand that some people don't like that, and their opinion is valid. However I find the suggestion exactly the same as going up to the Stardew Valley dev and complaining that there's too much farming and the game would really be better if it was a roguelike dungeon dealer. If you don't like that trade is the central pillar of the design of the entire game, your options are largely to accept it, or find a game that aligns better (or I guess yell at the clouds on the forums haha).

And for the SSF people asking for better drops I'll point out the same thing. Trade is the central pillar, SSF was explicitly added as a challenge mode and they were very clear when it came out that trade was still absolutely too priority and always would be.

What if GGG never spent any dev time on trade and kept it like the old d2 trading where you had to use chat to trade? would you be asking for more dev time being spent on trade?

My point is. Lets say there are 1000 man hours spent a week at GGG developing poe2. Then lets say there are about 500-600 spent making sure the economy wont suffer in their changes. that leaves 40-50% of the actual dev time spent working on the game. So you get 1/2 the content you could have had.

I have EXTREME doubts that ggg uses anywhere near 50-60% of their manpower on figuring out trade mechanics and balance. You'd really have to explain how you came up with that.

The recent addition of multiple tiers of currency clearly shows that they are about figuring out the actual game mechanics first, then let players figure out how the economy will sort itself out. And then maybe balance things around a little bit on the next league based around how the chips fall, while still keeping everything balanced for ssf players (as far as I know)

I really do not see how trading is a detriment to the game at large.
Sure it certainly did take a little bit of dev time to put up the currency exchange and Ange's asynchronous trading, but as far as I can tell tell these are the only major trade-related addition since the trade website was added some 8 years ago.
Sure sometimes they had to think of ways to itemize mechanic to make them tradable but that's also translates into improvements for ssf players and the game in general.

Overall you just won't have me believe that trade existing actually hinders the development of the game.
Besides trade is something a lot of people enjoy and consider a core part of the experience (probably at least 90% play trade league) it's perfectly normal if a bit of consideration goes into it every once in a while.

I also find it odd that many trade league players' kneejerk reaction to crafting / SSF being balanced better is "NO, THE GAME SHOULD BE BALANCED FOR TRADE ONLY!!!", as if improvements to crafting don't benefit them as well.

virtually nobody is arguing in good faith against crafting getting better.
its one of the most common complaints by a long shot.

what we DO often see is a load of SSF people trying to argue for separate crafting balance in SSF.

Trade League creates more problems than it solves, many balancing issues are Trade League exclusives. And subjectively, the game feels much better paced without trading / in SSF.

trade leagues fund like 80-90% of the games development.
ssf is a niche mode.
like it or not, you are in our world.

im sure there are people out there that like putting mustard on their pizza. no successful company is focusing on that.

Any improvements to SSF will benefit Trade League even more.

No, not quite. Most Trade League changes won't affect SSF.
SSF doesn't craft, that's the whole purpose.
Improvements to SSF (= better crafting) will benefit Trade though.

Correct. Unrelated though.
