While I was in the middle of something too and am bugged by the maintenance, it probably was not something planned but rather a crash or something very urgent.

Also, lets not forget that the game is still EA.
Kinda childish to blame GGG like that for this imo.

Thankfully the forums shows a red sign, I came to the forums to complain and then saw the "servers in maintenance". I agree with above poster, do not think it was planned.

At least make an announcement ingame or something.
