PoE2 has already failed on what it set up to do before it even released.

is this what Good Combat looks like, GGG?

1. GGG won't answer you here.
2. You know you can play other builds?
Tried to get my third ascendancy, got oneshot after running through these tedious trials, never tried again. It's just tedious.

Is this the Good combat you were talking about long time ago, GGG?

I've seen some points here that I think are valid.
However, it's still early access, so I expect things to change again.

I'm playing a Pathfinder atm. and I don't have any trouble in the campaign this time around. But I start to get PoE1 vibes already (Act IV).
Monsters are swarming you and if you can kill them fast enough it's all great.

I must say, though, that I found Torvian to be a great boss.

Sorry, I'm just curious, Which one was Torvian? I don't really remember much about the bosses myself as I just pinned them into inaction and melted them away before they could do anything so... none of that was particularly memorable to me because of that and felt pretty sad.. I've only seen a beam from the sky briefly on some boss in act 4 and it looked like the boss might have been cool, as well as a guy that ripped some pillars apart or something at the end of the "fight" I think but nothing else beyond that animation..

This is exactly how i feel, the only bosses i remember by name are Count Geonor and Jamanra, who i think were really good fights, but it's crazy to me to see people saying that bosses are the best part of poe 2, like, i always try to avoid interacting with them as much as i possible can, i think that a lot of them have too many mechanics going at the same time, like fighting 2 bosses at the same time with lots of flashy ground effects, i'd rather just get over them as fast as possible

They spent a huge amount of time making all these cool looking bosses, creatures and maps just to be ignored by the great majority of players, you could replace all the monster with a dark red blob and most people wouldn't even notice or care

And the reason why you ignore these things is because every single thing in this game is about speed and optimization of time, it's better to immobilize an enemy and kill them in seconds than risking interacting with their mechanics and getting killed

Go to any poe stream and you'll notice how 99% of the streams have the overlay map on their screen, this is how the average poe player plays the game, it's just more optimal this way

When you have speed, you don't care about enemies or ground/on kill effects anymore, at this point you only care about getting more currency

Personally, I think the root of the problem is that loot and rewards for players are generated purely at random. It's impossible to create good combat in this system. If I take all the basic item types and add all the permutations of affixes and suffixes, it's practically impossible to get excellent loot. If you do, it's like winning the national lottery three times over before.

If each map or a few maps offered a beneficial reward, such as a small gear or character upgrade, there would be no need to rush through the map, and meaningful combat could take its place. Then enemies would not have to be optimized for the top gear that can be obtained from trading, with further implications and impact on the game as such.

Taking the base mechanics from PoE 1 and putting them into PoE 2 is a slightly more complex problem than it might seem at first, because the whole of PoE 1 is based on chance and how quickly a character can kill enemies to generate as much loot as possible, thereby bypassing randomness to achieve a reasonable result and reward for the player.

I don't want PoE 2 to be just PoE 1 with a nicer coat, even though I really like PoE 1, because then it wouldn't make sense to have these two games side by side.

We just have to look at where the game started and where we are now to see the direction

closed beta was by far the most difficult "souls-like" version of the game
EA release was already heavily nerfed
0.3 is just faceroll with no challenge

I dont expect to change much
