" Here i agree with you. Not being able to do anything against a monster with actual combat skills as you need in for exampel Dark Soul. Skills are just weirdly if even telegraphed. Abyss monsters for example. |

I'm glad to see more people speaking out on this. And especially to see people pointing out that GGG themselves have said numerous times that PoE2 will have good and engaging combat.
If nothing else they should clarify where they stand now and what's their plan moving forward. The saddest thing about this situation for me is how I oftentimes find myself randomly thinking of wanting to try a skill or wanting to try making a build ... only to find myself quickly remembering that there's no point in doing so because there's no reason to play when the combat isn't fun and nothing is challenging. I've literally opened the game a few times, shot a few skills into the ground and closed the game... lol. I can't describe how frustrating this feels. Honestly, I don't even understand what people are farming for in endgame when everything falls over and dies in an instant... what's the purpose of playing anymore after you see that? "Sigh"

" I think I genuinely speak for a large majority of ARPG players when I say "we want to feel more powerful as the game progresses". Which many ARPGs do well: PoE 1, Grim Dawn, Titan Quest, Diablo II, Diablo III even, I never played 4, but you get my point. PoE 2 does not have this. I played both Deadeye and Invoker this league, and only Invoker felt that way. Deadeye I felt like a god pretty much out of act 1, and I only got stronger from there. And it's because while many builds (not all) are loosely close in terms of general DPS and survivability, only Deadeye also has access to massive movement speed benefits. I don't think a deadeye nerf is unwarranted, but they should nerf their survivability not their dps or movement speed imo. Deadeye players like it because it's fast in blasty, we expect to die a lot already. And then balance the game around bossing classes and mapping/blasting classes. Everyone wins. |

" i don't understand these arguments being brought up over and over again. the issue is with the devs advertising the game as 'meaningful combat/not just poe1 expansion' for years and up till December last year, then putting up patches and content like build of the week (which is intended play afaik) that goes against this concept in the most blatant way possible |

I can't say I understand how a lot of people define "feeling powerful", honestly.
I feel POWERFUL and skillful when I outmaneuver things, when I play well, when I play something in a mechanically impressive way... and stuff like that... When I make myself a good build I don't feel powerful... I feel "SMART"... and a lot of people don't even make their own builds so I'm not sure how those people feel at all. I honestly am trying to place myself in their shoes and I just don't see it. My best bet is that they're just looking to waste time and maybe for dopamine hits on loot drops? No idea. Ideally, I want to feel both SMART because I've made my own build and POWERFUL because I'm able to play my build skillfully. That's why it's super important to have good combat... " Unfortunately we can't rewind time so people who want to experience what a slower poe 1 was like can play it. The thing is we already have poe 1 for the blasters. They advertised, and still keep advertising, poe 2 as "meaningful combat" game. You see where the problem is? If they said this was a poe 1 reboot then full steam ahead. Continue doing what they are doing, but i assure you in the next interview you're gonna hear something about "meaningful", and "Combos". 2 things that will never exist in a poe 1 type gameplay. |

" My point exactly. The last 2 patches they've released so far have strayed further away from what they keep advertising. The Last Lament BOTW reminded me of the 2 incidents I had earlier that I put in the OP. The BOTW looked just like any other generic poe 1 BOTW video from the last 7 years. |
