Attack, retreat, circle, repeat attack, retreat, circle, repeat attack, retreat, circle, repeat each loop stretches time into a slow, boring smear.

The rhythm is hypnotic in the worst way, a coma-inducing tape that winds and rewinds itself you feel your eyes glaze, attention droop, and the whole scene flatten into a single, sleepy, maddeningly predictable motion.

ah yes the constant VFX flashes that hide everything on the screen including monster death animation and enough epic booms to max out my sound channel count and cause clipping is very stimulating. i love it, its so pleasurable especially when i have my filter going ding ding ding every few seconds.

You can't put in-depth combat systems into these types of games. It's a top down isometric action RPG (Diablo clone). They have more in common with a side scroller shooter than they do a Souls like. And what do you want to do in a side scroller? Blow shit up. Not walk around at a snails pace, rolling around enemies attacks. Game's such as Dark Souls all focus on in-depth frame data , every enemy attack is calculated by framedata. Player's attacks are calculated by frame data. They're basically psuedo turn based. How is that going to work in POE2? It's not going to. And slowing this type of game down won't work for anything besides perhaps a isometric survival horror game. Or a turn based game. And I don't think that is what POE is intending.


nobody wants to make an Exanima out of this game but even d2 had more meaningful combat and the game is 25+y/o with very crude mechanics and skills


D2 didn't have more meaningful combat. It is basically the exact same. Click on groups of monsters and pick up your loot. It was actually more fast paced at endgame due to runewords such as enigma and teleporting.

If it is exactly the same.. I mean... what are we even talking about here... 25 years difference and this genre still hasn't evolved ???

it's a RNG farming simulator. No one is going to take a slow paced farming simulator seriously. Does anyone want to play Blackjack at a casino when it takes 5 minutes for each hand? I mean the game is what it is. These game's can be done slower paced but that is a different design philosophy focused on either a campaign playthrough or survival type of game mechanics. Not a loot based RNG gambling simulator which is what D2 was and what POE is based of.

No rest for the wicked is the arpg with meaningful soulslike combat people are looking for. Poe 2 will never be that.

Yes it seems that is what they think they are making here .
They are not.

In ELden Ring or in No Rest, you notice the bosses spend most of their time circling , walking , then telegraphing then attacking.

PoE2 is some of the worst bossing i have ever seen and it acts as a barrier to replay.

Im never going through the campaign again.
I said i would so i have context when i post .
Im SSF and it sucks.

Bosses have no sync between their voice lines and their actions.
Sometimes skipping the voice altogether.

It is a non stop AOE timer with attack spam.
Roll around like an idiot for 8 minutes , and when done you learned nothing.
There is no fight , there is no strategy to pass along to someone to succeed.
The bosses are literal one shot timers.

The fights are all the same , you VS the floor.
They just change the animation of the boss thing in the room but its always just
you vs a one shot point blank aoe occurring in a tight cramped space and the death area is 70% of available space.

Or an off screen AOE once shot , or because you have no movement skills,
ohh but the mobs do , instant teleport attack, they are given a free attack that teleports them onto you in a darkness cloud , ooh yeah that screams tactical gameplay.

Bunch of cheap one shot crap.
Same strat as always , MOAR DPS , cause that limits the time of living throgh the bullshit, and thats no joke more dps .. all it takes more dps cause that eliminates all the bullshit.

I loved watching streamers in the group challenge ... many saying ive never seen these moves before .... cause the fight lasted 20 seconds....


Just dies to another bullshit one shot.
been playing for 10 minutes already looking for alternatives to play today.
0 skill off screen one shots total ass
