Common dude, opening some secret doors wouldn't change the whole philosophy of game. Expedition is some kind of adventure. Don't speak like you know what GGG is planning. Sometimes even GGG don't know what path should be taken for bringing best results to game experience. After all, all games in some way copying others.


secret passages already exist in Crypt map. dynamite/hidden walls exist in Delve. its clearly not 'innovative enough'. i'm pretty sure i touched on all of this earlier itt and got no responses.

I never said it cant be different.
All I said is this: It better be an ARPG in the end, thats all.
Thats what GGG stands for, thats what PoE stands for and thats what all of us funded for years.

If they want it to be anything other than an ARPG, they should have said so BEFORE anyone handed money over. They didnt tho and thats why I for one am convinced its gonna be an ARPG.

And thats what they should focus on.
If they want to add adventure and exploration or whatever later, thats fine. Dont care, will never engage with it.
Just get the ARPG part right first and foremost.

I guess our definition of what makes an ARPG is different. Back in Diablo 1, the grand daddy of all ARPGs, has secret rooms, etc. ARPGs should focus on hack and slash and picking up loot, but sprinkle in secret passageways in dungeons as all. It's not that hard. A good ARPG has both elements.

At this point, I think you are arguing for the sake of argument.

What I do say is that the ARPG elements, as in the Hack&Slash as well as loot and gear progression feel horrible right now.
The endgame is extremely boring and thats not just because of lacking content.
The campaign is a slogfest past act2, possibly past act1 already.

Get that right first. And then add whatever else.


They released way too early, overscoped by multiple countrymiles and panicked prior to release which made them hastily throw an endgame of sorts together cuz D4 got blasted for not having a proper endgame.
All of this and more has led to where we are.

Exploration or whatever else in terms of fluff isnt going to make up for this mess. Get the basics right first and go from there, once a solid basegame is established.
Slow down guys. Just adding some secret doors wouldn't bring much deference in the game and this is not considered as innovative idea by each own as new implementation.

Secret doors should have a small percentage as noticeable items. I think 7% should be fine.

Also some unique monsters hiding inside the cave/room isn't something new and should add more things to make people chase them. See the Spirits idea which is bad implemented and finally noone cares for them anymore.

I think Devs should add chrono time that these doors should exist. So players should run imidiately along map to find them quickly. Rewards should be quality items guarded with high level bosses.

Nah i don't think this Dev team is cappable for such implementations.

It needs a lot of work then so for the upcoming patch time isn't enough for this implementation but maybe in patch 0.5.0 near April should be good timing.

+1 for me if chests bring quality rewards otherwise it is one more failure just like Spirits mechanism.

GGG just tells the guys making dungeon maps for campaign to sprinkle in few secret areas. It shouldn't take a concerted effort.
That's all well and good, but what would actually make it worth my time to try to find it in the first place instead of killing hundreds of monsters Dutton the same time?

Have a secret room containing 8 Rare Chests in a square configuration with big ole' piles of gold in the center. That's fun!
